About Us

Our Beliefs

Grounded in Faith

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and that it is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We believe in the Trinity, the deity of Christ, and the necessity of salvation through faith in Him. This and much more is covered in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Baptist Faith & Message

Our Mission

By the Word of God

Our mission is for our lives, ministry, actions, and decisions to all be by the Word of God. We believe that all Scripture points us to Christ and is sufficient to lead to the fulfillment of our vision.

Our Vision

Family Finding Life in Christ

Our vision is to be a family that is finding our life in Jesus alone. He is our hope, rest, assurance, joy, salvation, and Lord. We have died to our old selves, and our life is hidden with Christ. No matter where you are in your journey, let's take your next step in finding life in Christ together.

Our Core Values

At the heart of our community are these core beliefs that guide our ministry and outreach.

Scriptural Fidelity

Scripture is our rule. If we cannot base it upon Scripture then we don't do it. We strive to do all that Scripture teaches and nothing that it doesn't. This applies to all areas of church and life.

Missionality

God has placed us in Iva in order to be on mission for Him. We are called to share the gospel, love others, and serve. We will be intentional about engaging this community and beyond with the good news of Jesus! Evangelism and making disciples for the glory of God is what we are all about doing.

Family

We believe in the importance of being a church family and building up individual families. We desire to invest in families in our church, in our community, in the larger kingdom of God, and to specifically focus on discipling the next generation.

Theology

We are convinced that a right understanding of God leads to right worship and practice. As we study the deeper things of who God is and how He works, we believe that will draw people to Him for salvation as well as bring people to their knees in adoration. Theology, evangelism, discipleship, and practicality are not mutually exclusive, but rather a biblical theology motivates, empowers, and guides each of these things.

Simplicity

We believe that church should be simple (though not easy). We are not called to do everything, fill every calendar slot, or run every program. However, Scripture does call us to do a few things very well. If we can't do it faithfully and biblically then we don't need to do it.

Intentionality

We want to be intentional about doing the things God has called us to do. We want to purposefully take the steps necessary to reach others with the gospel, make space for family worship time, invest in discipleship, prioritize the things of the Lord, build relationships, and more.

Sacred

God is holy and perfectly righteous. He is the creator, and He is worthy of perfect obedience from His creatures (Revelation 4).

Sin

God's law is righteous and good, but all people have broken it. No one is "good enough" to be right with God. Since we have broken God's law, His righteousness demands that He punish our sins (Romans 3). The only fitting punishment for rebelling against the Holy God is death and the soul being forever tormented in Hell (Romans 5, Revelation 21:8, Romans 6:23).

Substitute

God, in His mercy, entered His creation and took on human flesh as fully-God and fully-man to serve as our perfect representative. His name is Jesus (John 1). As a substitute for His people, He lived the perfectly righteous life that we have failed to live (Matthew 5, Romans 3, Romans 5) and experienced the punishment for our sin when He was killed on a cross (Isaiah 53, Romans 3, 1 Peter 2:24).

Sunday

Triumphing over death and vindicating His sufficiency to save, He rose from the dead 3 days later on the first day of the week (1 Corinthians 15).

Salvation

Since Jesus perfectly kept the law on behalf of His people and sufficiently experienced the punishment for their sin, His people can be made righteous (Romans 3). The perfect righteousness of Christ and the total forgiveness from Him satisfying the penalty for our sin are transferred to those who have faith in Christ (Romans 3, 4, 5). Therefore, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved from Hell and the power of sin, given new life, and have Christ's righteous status credited to you (Romans 10:9).
